Albertha Ruth Spiva (97), a longtime Perkins resident, passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. She was surrounded by family and caregivers.

Albertha was born on August 14, 1920 in Sulphur, Oklahoma to the late Lonnie (Buster) and Ethel (Cornell) Atteberry. She grew up in Sulphur then moved to Oklahoma City where she graduated from Putnam City High School. Albertha attended North Eastern State University in Tahlequah and received her Associates Degree in Journalism and Art. Albertha married the love of her life, Paul Spiva on May 23, 1942. She worked at Oklahoma State University during WWII. In 1945, she and Paul moved to San Francisco, where their son Don was born. Shortly thereafter, they moved back to Stillwater where they lived for several years. In 1950, they moved to Mehan, and had their second son, David. They lived on the farm in Mehan for many years where she worked alongside her husband. Albertha was a housewife, worked cattle, raised a huge garden and took care of the books for the family business, as well as the farm. They retired in 1982 and moved to Perkins. They enjoyed traveling in their 5th wheel all over the United States. They very much enjoyed spending time with their family at the lake home on Grand Lake. She loved spending time with their children and especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Albertha is survived by her son David Spiva and wife Debbie of Tulsa, sisters Wanda Donaldson of Strafford, MO and Brondel Coyle of Sulphur, OK grandchildren Donna Spiva-Doggett and husband Jay, Gary Spiva and wife Daun Lyons, Jeff Spiva and wife Heather, Aaron Spiva and wife Wendy, great grandchildren James and Jacob Byram, Zoey, Don, Sam, Barrett, Thomas, Johnathan, Allissa and Breanna Spiva, great great grandchildren Elizabeth, Abigail and Gunner Byram.

Albertha was preceded in death by her husband Paul, and her son Don Spiva, brother John Atteberry, Sister, Edwinna Wittmann and sister Joy Lee.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2017 at Cimarron Worship Center, Perkins, OK. Rev. Larry Eslinger will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Stillwater, OK. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.
