Augusta Clare (Stratman) Schlueter

Augusta was born in Essen, Germany to Fritz and Adelheid Stratman. In 1883, she immigrated with her parents to America.

In 1900, Augusta was 19, living at home 3011 Cuming Street, Omaha, Nebraska, and working as a paster in a paper box factory. Her father was working as a station fireman. The 1900 US Census is unique in that not only are birth month and year listed, but married women were asked how many children they had, and how many were still living. Augusta's mother sadly said that of 8 children, only 6 were still living. The 1900 US Census lists:
Fritz, 44, head, b. Feb. 1856, station fireman
