OLD GLORY -- Jerry Don Butler, 60, of Old Glory, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday March 20, 2007 at Sweethome Baptist Church in Rule with Reverend Randy Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Bomarton Cemetery under the direction of McCauley - Robison Funeral Home of Rule.

Jerry was born in Seymour on September 29, 1946 to James and Joyce Purdue Butler. He married Kathleen (Kathy) Sherrell on August 27, 1966 in Irving. She preceded him in death January 29, 1997. Jerry was a lifelong farmer and rancher and a member of Sweethome Baptist Church where he served as deacon for many years. Jerry was a very kind and gentle man to his family and everyone else he came in contact with. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Sorrells and husband Paul of Haskell, Cheryl Gibson and husband John of Anchorage, Alaska and Bridgett Foreman and husband David of Rule. Grandchildren, Christi Thompson and husband David of Denton, Jeremy Sorrells of Arlington and his fiance, Kendra Scheets of Rule, Robin and Kurtis Gibson of Anchorage, Alaska and Rodney and Rebecca Foreman of Rule. And a brother, James R. Butler and wife Jane of League City, numerous other relatives and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kathy, his parents and a sister Joan Elizabeth Butler.

The family will be receiving friends at 907 8th Street in Rule.
