Lucinda Jane Burroughs was born in Jefferson county, Ia., August 13, 1863, and passed away at her home in Cantril, Ia., April 22, at 11:40, after an illness of three months.

She was married to Alvin Leaverton, August 10, 1887. To this union six children were born, Clyde and Eva dying in infancy and Cecil B., a world war veteral(veteran), passing away in 1926. She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband; one daughter, Mrs. C.C. Hoskin, Los Angeles, Calif.; two sons, Lee, Phoenix, Ariz., and Jess, of Moberly Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Muida Bush, Fairfield; two brothers, Dan, Weatherford, Okla., and Dave, Red Rock, New Mexico, and eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Leaverton joined the Methodist church in childhood and at the time of her death was a faithful member.

Funeral services were from the M.E. church Tuesday afternoon in charge of her pastor, the Rev. H.F. Gilbert. Mrs. J.C. Hall, Mrs. H.F. Gilbert, B.C. Casady and Joe Hootman sang, "The Old Rugged Cross", "It Is Well" and "The Home Over There". Pallbearers were Earl and Stanley Hoskin, Walter Miller, Harley Huggins, Frank and Craig Smith. Burial was in Cantril cemetery.
