A useful and exemplary life had it's fitting, peaceful close, shortly after Friday midnight at Harrisonville, when Hiram Adams, prominent Grand Army veteran and life long resident of that section, answered the final summons. He had been gradually failing for over a year and the final dissolution came at the ripe old age of 75 years. Mr Adams was the venerable father of County Clerk, H. B Adams of this city and leaves a number of other children in this county and elsewhere. The parents of Mr Adams, George and Nancy Adams, were among the earliest pioneers of the northeastern part of the county. They reared a large family, of whom this one was the the youngest and last to pass away. Up until ten years ago, Mr Adams lived in the same house in which he was born, actively engaged in farming. He then moved to the village of Harrisonville, where he passed a quiet old age with his now widowed wife. Mr Adams was first married to Diana Butcher, who died in 1897. To them was born eight children all of whom are living. They are George W of Sedalia, Mo, Mrs Mary A Bennett, Lucasville, William B. of Stockdale, Mrs Eunice Kirkpatrick of Wellston, Mrs. Belle Southworth, Lucasville, H. B and Frank S of Portsmouth, and John H of Jackson. Mr Adams was again married nine years ago to Elizabeth Fullerton of Harrisonville, who also survives. In the Civil War, Comrade Adams was second lieutenant of Company A, 140 O. V. I. He was a charter member of Scioto Post G.A.R., of Harrisonville. In politics, Mr Adams was a Republican and served two terms as Infirmary Director of Scioto County. Funeral services are to be held Monday morning at ten o'clock at Madison Baptist church to which denomination Mr Adams belonged for many years. Rev. Morris of Harrisonville M. E. church will be in charge assisted by the Grand Army, and interment will follow in the family burying ground, Adams Cemetery, Madison Township, Scioto County, Ohio.
