Vivian (Boots) Brantley Crews 91, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2017 at Acosta-Rua Center for Caring Hospice. A viewing will be held from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM Sunday, November 5, 2017 in the chapel at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, November 6th at Hope for Live Baptist Church located at 7725 Ramona Blvd. W. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Elvis Stephen Crews and by her daughter, Janice Engel Warren. She was the only surviving charter member of her church, now known as Hope for Life Baptist Church, and she remained a faithful member there for nearly seventy years. She was strong in her faith and her Christian witness. For many years she taught the Juniors Sunday School class, and through her ministry, brought numerous children to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Until the very end she professed her faith and her assurance of where she would be following death. She spoke often of her desire to see her many relatives and friends who have gone on before.

She retired from Florida Blue after fifteen years of loyal service. She was a great cook, especially well known for her coconut cakes. She was an excellent seamstress as well who made beautiful dresses for every special occasion for her girls. She was president of the PTA at her children’s grammar school and provided comfort and help to many who were less fortunate, ill, or simply in need of a good meal or a good friend.

She is survived by her daughters: Elaine Powell and Susan Roberts, and beloved son-in-law, Joe Roberts, five grandchildren: Will Engel (Shannon), Jennifer McKee (Brent), Matthew Powell, Kimberly Ruano, and Jordan Roberts (Amber) as well as six great grandchildren: Ellen, Anna, Michael, and Louisa Engel, Crews Powell and Aubree Roberts, and by her step sister, Sylvia Kersey.

Vivian loved flowers and expressed a desire to have many at her send-off. Should you wish to make a donation to charity in lieu of flowers, the family suggests Hope for Life Baptist Church or Wolfson Children’s Hospital Auxiliary.

Miss Boots will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her dear friend Ada Green and her wonderful physical therapists who expressed great sadness at her passing.
