William Everett Honea, age 72, of McKinney, Texas, passed away October 21, 2017. William was born December 26, 1944, in McKinney, Texas, to Lonnie and Eva (Hopgood) Honea. He married Wonda Lee Wilson on December 30, 1968, in McKinney. William was employed with the City of Plano Fire Department for seventeen years, fourteen of those years as an engine driver with the last three years of his career as a driver for the assistant fire chiefs within the department. He also drove an ambulance for three years for the McKinney Fire Department. In 1985, he received the firefighter of the year with the Plano Fire Department.

He is survived by his son, William B. Honea of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Shannon Bates and husband, Shane of Daingerfield, Texas; grandchildren, Chandler Horton, Austin Horton, Travis Honea, Alexis Honea, and Jossie Bates; sisters, Reba Francis and husband, Richard of Spottsville, Kentucky and Linda Hamilton of Humphrey, Arkansas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, George Honea, and sister, Joyce Gilmore.

A graveside inurnment will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.
