Philip Eugene Garrett, 83, died June 9, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born June 30, 1918 in Nephi, UT to Willard and Ina Priscilla Chase Garrett. Married Ruth Juanita Christensen, April 4, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A graduate of the University of Washington.
Veteran of World War II and Korean Conflict. Retired as a Colonel in the United States Air Force. Active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Served in many positions including bishop. Served with his wife for over six years as a temple ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple. He served as ward dance director in various wards, and during the days of LDS Church Gold and Green Balls, he presented yearly talented and artistic floor show performances. He enjoyed researching and compiling genealogy and historical information pertinent to his ancestors. Genealogical research was an enjoyable hobby. He participated in name extraction for Family History work. His beloved wife, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his greatest love.
Survived by wife; three sons, Kyle Chris (Stephanie), Todd Willard (Nadine), James Philip (Cynthia); six daughters, Ann Louise Pyper (Ron), Ina Marie Butterworth (Jay), Rugene Jacobs, Christine Ruth Axford (Craig), Priscilla Eileen Garrett, Kathleen Garrett; 22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Parents and five siblings, Amos, Alice, Edith, Ina May and Fern have all predeceased him.
Viewing at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State, Midvale, Tues. June 11, 6-8 p.m. Bishop Swan will conduct the funeral Wed. June 12, 12 noon, Sandy Central Stake/Park Ward chapel, 1050 E. Galena Dr. (9820 S), Sandy where a viewing will be one hour prior to the services. Dedicatory prayer and interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 E. 7800 S, Cottonwood Heights.
