Helen A. Barneson, 87, Mondovi, died Saturday at the American Lutheran Home, Mondovi.

She was born Oct. 8, 1903, in the town of Pleasant Valley, Eau Claire County, to William and Ida (Hehl) Behlke. She married Fred Barneson Sept. 21, 1930, in Cleghorn.

She and her husband farmed in the town of Pleasant Valley for many years and she served as a cook at the Jensen School. They moved to Mondovi in 1984. where she has lived since. She was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran, Cleghorn, where she taught Sunday School: of Peace Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, for 20 years; and of Zion Lutheran Church in Mondovi since moving there. She belonged to various organizations in Zion Lutheran Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Charles (Diane) of Waterloo, Iowa; three daughters, Janice Smeltzer, Bloomington, Minn., Norma (Don) Syverson, Eau Claire, Carol (Hal) McCabe, Rockford, III.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Clarence (Hilda) Behlke of Strum; and two sisters, Edna Barneson and Doris Brott, both of Strum.

Preceding her in death were two daughters, Lorraine and Audrey; three brothers and one sister.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Mondovi, Rev. David Maki officiating, with interment in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Cleghorn.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Kjentvet and Son Funeral Home, Mondovi, and until II a.m. Wednesday. After 11 a.m. they may call at the church until the time of services.
