Roy B. Maiden, age 81, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania surrounded by his loving family. Roy was born on January 18, 1936 to Andy and Pearl (Cobb) Maiden in Pearl, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Lucille (Adkins) Maiden and later married Marjorie (Soards) Maiden on September 4, 2010 in Walbridge. Roy was a Machine Repairman for Libbey Glass for over 44 years. Roy was a member of Athens Missionary Baptist Church in Walbridge and a current member of Northern Light Lodge No. 40. He was also a Past Master and Worshipful Master of Port Lawrence Lodge No. 685, from 1971 to 1972 and from 1992 to 1993. He was a 50 year plus member of Free & Accepted Masons and received his 50 year membership award in 2015 from the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio. He was appointed by the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio to serve as a District Education Officer serving the 11th Masonic District of Ohio for the years 1975, 1976 and 1977. He was also appointed by the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio as a District Deputy Grand Master serving the 11th Masonic District of Ohio for 1978, 1979 and 1980. Roy was a member of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, and was elected Commander-in-Chief of Toledo Consistory at the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo serving in 2000-2001. Roy was especially proud of being coroneted an Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite 33rd Degree Mason in November 2000. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Marjorie; children, Debbie (Denny) Jones and Anthony (Vicki) Maiden; grandchildren, Scott (Danielle) Jones, Drew (Alyssa) Maiden, Zach (Allison) Maiden, Allie (Jack) Maiden, Chad (Emily) Jones, Teia, Siriyee, and Tariq Jomaa; siblings, Lois (the late Dick) Snyder and Charles “Jr.” (the late Florence) Maiden; and great-grandchildren, Luke, Eliana, Lola Mae, Caleb, Mylie, Jamison, Mykah, Josiah, Kaden, Amirah, Mya, Maddison and Samirah. Roy was preceded in death by his first wife Lucille, daughter-in-law, Michelle Maiden; and siblings, Nadine Killion, Ruby Standard, Joey Frasure and Darlene Partin. Friends will be received at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St., Walbridge, Ohio 43465 (419) 666-3121 on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with Masonic Lodge services starting at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Athens Missionary Baptist Church, 101 W. Breckman St. Walbridge, Ohio. Contributions in memory of Roy may be made directed to Athens Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund or to Ebeid Hospice.
