Thelma Louise Bevere Cooke was born March 28, 1912 in Parkersburg, WV, the eigth child of Melvin Milo and Rosa Edna 'Rosie' Archer Bevere. The family moved to Summit Co, OH when Thelma was still a young child.

Thelma graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1932 and married the love of her life, Harold Virgil Cooke in 1933. Thelma and Harold had 3 wonderful children together, Jacqueline (John) Wells, David (Virginia), and Roger (Nancy).
