Obituary from Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville, NC:

JACKSONVILLE - Mrs. Phyllis Silence, 68, of Jacksonville, experienced a stroke and passed away Saturday, July 29th, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 4th at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel. Burial will be held privately.

Phyllis was a retired cosmetologist with a spontaneous, unfiltered personality. Phyllis loved to sing and was part of the Pineland Presbyterian choir. She also liked to read, garden, and travel.

She was born January 16, 1949, one of sixteen children to Martha and Hubert Lee Parker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Martha Annette Carter, Hellen Leary, Gayle Humphrey and Judy Parker; in addition to three brothers, Junior Ray, Carrol and Richard Parker.

Survivors include her husband, William Benny Silence; three children, Michelle, Angela and Steven Silence; one daughter-in-law, Jasmin Silence; three grandchildren, Lauren Cooney, Sophia and Isabella Silence; five brothers, William “Bill”, Hubert, John “JC”, Noland and Terry Parker; three sisters, Vera Mae Bowman, Patricia Patane and Donna Rochelle; along with several nieces, nephews and in-laws.

The family invites you to join them in celebrating her extraordinary life. They will receive friends Wednesday evening, August 2, 2017 from 6 - 8 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Onslow Women's Shelter.
