Lester E. Freed, 77, of Lafayette passed away at 8:05 am, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at St. Mary’s Healthcare, Lafayette surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 1, 1940 in Lafayette to the late Harold Arnold and Leone Belle (Hall) Freed. He was a 1958 graduate of Southwestern High School and received his certification in radio and tv repair. He married the love of his life, Sandra Kay McKinney on April 2, 1961 at St. James Lutheran Church in Lafayette, they were married 56 years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and worked at Fairfield manufacturing as a machinist and a foreman. He also had his own radio and tv repair business.

Lester enjoyed restoring cars, working on both car and household radios and televisions. He was a member of the Indiana Historical Radio Society, Lafayette Indiana Historic Auto Club, and the Early Birds of Hoosierland.

Along with his wife Sandra, he is survived by his 3 sons, Michael (Holly) Freed of West Point, Brian (Robin) Freed of West Point, R. Scott (Kelly) Freed of of St. Petersburg, FL; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Linda (Mark) Eastman of Lafayette.
