Lt. Col. William Mac McTaggart passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2007.

Mac was a devoted family man as well as a dedicated career Air Force officer and an extremely active member of the Catholic Church.

Mac served in World War II and in the Korean War. His B-29 was shot down while on a mission. He was captured and a POW for 2-1/2 years. The later part of Macs military career was spent as an active member of the Pioneer Space Program. Mac received many military honors; some were the World War II Victory Medal, the Bronze Medal and the Silver Star. After his retirement he remained active in the retired military community.

He is survived by his loving wife Ruth; his three children, Tag, Penni and Tom; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mac will be greatly missed by his family and his very special and treasured friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to MOAACC (Military Officers Association of America, Cape Canaveral) Scholarship Fund, PO Box 254708, PAFB, FL 32935 - in memory of William Mac McTaggart.

Visitation will be held at Beach Funeral Home East Chapel in Indian Harbour Beach, on Friday, March 16, 2007 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 17, 2007 at South Patrick Chapel 2 in Pelican Coast at 10 a.m. After the burial at Florida Memorial Gardens on US Hwy. 1, all are invited to join the family for cheers and a light lunch at 1 p.m., at the Tides.
