William "Bill" Ermal Boyd, passed away on September 27th 2017 at his home of 34 years, in Greenwich, N.Y.

Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, Bill left college and enlisted in the United States Navy Pilot Training Program in 1943, at the age of 17.

After World War II, he returned to college to earn his Bachelor of Science degree and began a Teaching career.

He was recalled in 1951 and served as an Air Defense Officer aboard a Navy Destroyer off the coast of Korea.

Bill attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander (O-4) and was Honorably discharged in 1954.

He was the beloved husband of 68 years to Marilyn (Joyce) Boyd.

He later settled in Greenwich, N.Y. where he was very active and well-remembered in the local community.

He was predeceased by one brother; John Jesse Boyd.

Always a teacher, Bill chose to be a donor to the Anatomical Gift Program of the Albany Medical College.

A military ceremony to honor Bill's long life will take place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on 200 Duell Road in Schuylerville, N.Y.
