Richard Anthony "Dick" Ginsterblum was born on July 5, 1924, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, the son of Anthony John and Anna Maria "Amy" DeMuth Ginsterblum.

Dick was a World War II Navy Veteran and was proud to have recently been on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. He served in California, repairing ships.

Dick married Rose Ella Fishler on April 25, 1959, in Patch Grove, Wisconsin.

Dick worked for General Telephone for 40 years as a linesman and switchman in Portage, Wisconsin. The family moved back to Prairie du Chien in the 1980s.

He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, golfing, and especially the Chicago Cubs. His biggest goal was to live long enough to watch the Cubs in the World Series. He had close ties with family and friends and enjoyed many conversations with them.

Dick is survived by his sons, Randal and Richard (Jenny) Ginsterblum; sisters, Sr. Mary Joan Ginsterblum, OLVM, and Marian June (Walt) Carroll; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rose Ella; brothers, Fr. John Matthew, Donald Joseph, and Neil Blaise; and sisters, Helen Margaret Watson, Anna Marie Sheridan, and Alice Adelaide Farris.

Visitation was on Thursday, October 26, 2017, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien. A Wake Scripture Service was held at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, October 27, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel Archangel Catholic Church of Holy Family Parish. Celebrant: Fr. William J. Farris, OFM, nephew. Concelebrant: Fr. D. Stephen Smith, cousin. Military honors were provided at graveside by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard.
