VIRGINIA FARRINGTON

At 95, Virginia of Gig Harbor, WA, passed away November 24, 2016. She was born July 19, 1921 in Gate, Washington. She married H Roy Farrington, February 15, 1942 and enjoyed a marriage of 64 years until Roy passed in 2006. Roy and Virginia hiked the hundred mile Wonderland trail around Mt Rainier, fished the straits of Juan de Fuca, and taught their three children to love hiking, camping, boating, and even snow skiing. Virginia led a Campfire Girls group from 2nd grade bluebirds up through their senior year of Horizon Club. She graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1968 with a BA degree in fine arts, and later served as class administrator of Bible Study Fellowship for many years. Playing ping pong with Roy from the beginning of their marriage, she continued winning games with her caregivers in her nineties. She will be remembered for her artistic love of beauty, her great enthusiasm, and her exceptional listening skills. She is survived by her children, Marlys Johnson (with Dave Johnson) and Bruce Farrington (with Kathleen Farrington) of Gig Harbor, and Lois Farrington of Whidbey Island. She also has 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held from 1 – 4 PM on December 18, at an open house in her home in Gig Harbor.
