Dorothy Alderson, 86, of Salem, passed away Friday, February 4, 2000 at SunBridge Health and Rehabilitation in Salem. Born April 28, 1913 in Alma, Illinois, she was a daughter of Samuel S. and Lucy Presgrove Fradenburg who preceded her in death.


A former employee of the Salem Dress Factory, she also worked as a cook in a nursing home in Libertyville. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Salem.


She was married to Everett Alderson in 1931 at Salem and he preceded her in death 1975.


Surviving are Lucille Dodson, her daughter, and husband, John of Kinmundy; grandchildren, Cecelia Sloat and husband, Matt, John E. Dodson III and wife, Robin; great grandchildren, Anna, Heather, Jason, Jessica and Tiana; great great-granddaughter, Ashley; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services was held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2000, in the chapel of Rankin Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Bogart officiating. Burial followed in Paradise Cemetery. Visitation was held on Sunday evening at the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem.


Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
