Emma Worth Mitchell Wilcox, 92, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Davis Health Care Center.
She was born in Wilmington on September 20, 1925, daughter of the late George Linwood Mitchell and Annie Elizabeth Worth Mitchell.
Mrs. Wilcox was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Carolina Yacht Club. She was a graduate of New Hanover High School (1943), and Salem College.
She is survived by her children, William M. Wilcox, IV (Stephanie) of Greensboro, NC, Elizabeth "Betsy" Mitchell Wilcox and Mary Emma Wilcox Hultman both of Wilmington, and Henry Worth Wilcox (Robyn) of Greer, SC; grandchildren, Ann Louise Wilcox, Christopher Allan Hultman (Amanda), Joshua Allan Hultman (Leslie), Jack William Wilcox, and Lawrence "Lance" Worth Wilcox; a great-grandchild, Lillian Marie Hultman; and a sister-in-law, Harriet Mitchell of Greensboro, NC. Her husband, William Marion Wilcox III and two brothers, George Linwood Mitchell, Jr., and Charles Joseph Mitchell preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 25, 2017,with Pastor Richard Hargrave Aylor and Dr. Daniel Francis Lewis officiating. A private interment will be held on the Mitchell Family Plot in Oakdale Cemetery.
