Catherine grew up in Jacksonville, Illinois the daughter of Daniel Edward Sweeney and Catherine Scott. Along with her brothers and sisters, she moved to Chicago around 1930 where she met Peter Frank Vogt, her husband. They married in 1931 and lived in the South Side of Chicago until both died. She was buried 23 November 1970.
