Joan A. "Camp K Grandma" Vining, 84, of Muncie, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017. Joan was born January 26, 1933 in Hazleton PA to the late James and Margaret Letcher.

Joan was very active in Boy Scouts. Known as "Grandma" at Camp Kikthawenund, she was the craft director for nearly 20 years. She served as a den leader and trained others to become den leaders. She received the Silver Beaver, the Boy Scout's highest award to registered adult leaders. She had also been a member of the Lions Ladies Auxiliary.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 2pm Saturday, October 21 at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel, where family and friends are invited to gather from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.

Joan was the widow of Don Thomas Vining.

She is survived by her children, Denise (husband, Timothy) Short, Don Vining, Bob (wife, Mary) Vining, Beverly (husband, Bill) Sass, and David Vining; grandchildren Nick Short, Natalie (husband, Allen Hutson) Short, Jordan Short, Nichole Sass, Ashlie Sass, Kristina Sass, Tyler Vining and Paige Vining; sisters, Martha Sterner, Hope Kirlin, Betty Winningham, Carol Hollandsworth, and Debbie Moore.

She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Peggy Connor and Faith Presley and 1 brother, Jimmy Letcher.
