Larry Holden, 75, of the Shallotte Point Community died Wednesday October 18, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Holden was born in Brunswick County on December 31, 1941 and was the son of the late W.C. "Bill" and Virginia Stanley Holden. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori De Anne Holden.

He attended United Vision Pentecostal Church. Larry owned and operated Holden's Seafood along with his sons, of Shallotte Point. He was a commercial fisherman for many years. The seafood industry was very dear to him and preserving this local heritage that has always been a part of his life.
Larry owned numerous boats over the years including the Cellie, Miss Jessie, Lori & Barry, Pat, Captain Jason, Captain Holden, Windjammer, Jimmy & Linda, Lynn Marie, Predator, Miss Virginia and the Andrea Dawn.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Hazel Holden; three sons, Robert Barry Holden and wife Fran of Shallotte, Jason Larry Holden and wife Tricia of Shallotte, Jack Carmichael and wife Misty of Supply; two daughters, Dana Hrubik of Shallotte, Sheila Hall and husband Danny of Midland City, Alabama; two brothers, Wayne Holden and wife, Marion of FL; and Ronnie Holden and wife Clarise of Sunset Beach; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 in the afternoon on Saturday October 21, 2017 at United Vision Pentecostal Church with Reverend Maurice Milligan officiating. Interment will follow in the Gurganus Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church two hours prior to the funeral service.
