Robert Jeremiah Mudd, Sr., passed away on January 30, 2016, at his home in Pomfret, MD. He was born on July 15, 1936, in Washington, D.C., the son of Esther Corrine (Jameson) and George Dominic Mudd, Sr.

Robert grew up on the family farm in Pomfret, MD. He graduated from La Plata High School in 1954, and joined the United States Air Force in 1956. After his honorable discharge, Robert joined the Charles County Sheriff's Department in 1961, where he also met his future wife, Sergeant Sylvia Blakeslee. He served for 20 years, achieving the rank of Second Lieutenant.

He was a founding member of the John Deere Club, as well as a member of the FOP Lodge #24, the Charles County Sheriff's Office Retirees Association, the Maryland Two-Cylinder Club, and the Maryland Farm Bureau.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one brother, George Dominic Mudd, Jr.; and one son, Lance Corporal Michael Patrick Mudd, USMC.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sylvia (Blakeslee) Mudd; two sons, Robert Jeremiah (Alison) Mudd, Jr., and Stanton (Beth) Blakeslee; one daughter, Julie (Christopher) Yowell; and seven grandchildren, Michael, Tyler, Alexander, Arianna, Akayla, Aubrey, and Carson.
