James Carroll Akers, 86, of Salem, Va., passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016. He was born on September 23, 1929, to the late Grover and Etta Akers.
Carroll served his country in the United States Air Force from 1946 until 1949. He worked at General Welding until his retirement.
Carroll was preceded in death by his wife, Celeste Brown Akers; four sisters and four brothers, Mable (Coley), Violet (Paul), Mary (John), Louise (Shuford), Wulton (Louise), Chess (Julia), Woodrow (AnnaBelle), Stafford (Mable).
He had many very special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as, great-great-nieces and nephews.The family will have a graveside service at a later date
