Darleen Baumiller Zangle, 87 of Mitchell, formerly of Parkston, died Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Avera Brady Health and Rehabilitation Center in Mitchell. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 20, at First Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Burial will be in Parkston Protestant Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Thursday at the Bittner Funeral Chapel.

On February 19, 1930, a baby girl came to live with Edward and Christena Lippert. They named this blue eyed girl Darleen Berneice. Likewise a bouncing baby boy made his appearance at the home of Christian and Martha Baumiller, by the name of Lewis Reinhold.

Lewis grew to be a handsome fellow with hair styled in a Crew Cut and Darleen a thin slender brunette. They met when they both accepted jobs at the home of Carl and Pauline Baumiller.

On October 3, 1950, they married at the First Baptist Church in Avon, SD. On the day of their wedding Lewis was called to duty for his country. He spent some time in California and Alaska and Darleen joined him there. Upon returning from the service Lewis and Darleen farmed on an acreage outside of Parkston, SD. They were blessed with three children, Delvona Joy, Debra Lynn and Delwyn Lewis. The family farm was sold in 1991 and they moved to Parkston. Lewis joined his savior in 1994. Darleen married Harvard Zangle in 2000 and he joined his savior in 2001. Darleen moved to Mitchell in 2003.

Darleen was always busy helping others and had various jobs over the years; painting, wall papering, waitress at Starlight Lanes, cleaning at the Rainbow Motel, clerk at Opp Clothing store and demoing at various grocery stores. She was a 17 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was named Legionette of the Year in 2011.

Survivors include her children, Delvona (Dan)Adams, Aurora, CO, Debra (Randy) Olson, Highmore, SD, Delwyn Baumiller, Mitchell, SD; 6 grandchildren, Brian (Alice) Olson, Mpls, MN, Monica Olson, Vail, AZ, Natalie (Brent) McMillan, Vail, AZ, Jeannie Adams, Denver, CO, Ashlee (Joe) Shields, Escondido, CA, Coree Baumiller, Mitchell, SD; 6 great grandchildren, Felix and Theodore Olson, Capri and Lincoln McMillan, Cienna Riddell and Lewis Shields; sister, Danelda (Frances) VanDuysen, brothers, Eldean Lippert, Elwood Lippert, Elroy (Ruth) Lippert; sister-in-laws, Darlene Mogck, Eldora Baumiller; brother-in-law, Dale Gilbertson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lewis Baumiller, 2nd husband Harvard Zangle, sisters, Marcella Voigt, Leola Lukkes, brothers-in-law, Clarence and Raymond Baumiller, Howard Mogck, Newton Voigt, Cornelius Lukkes, sister-in-laws, Gloria Lippert, Janet Lippert, Alice Baumiller, and Elaine Gilbertson.
