Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Vernon will be conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Eddie Little, pastor of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Walls Cemetery in the Braden Community. A visitation for Mrs. Vernon will be from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Vernon was born April 29, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Otho Lewis Anderson, Jr. and Hazel E. Taylor Anderson. She received her education at Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Mississippi. She was a former resident of Hardy, Arkansas before moving to the Somerville area. Mrs. Vernon was married March 31, 1996 to Ewart Vernon and she was a member of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church. She was employed as a cafeteria manager for Memphis City Schools before her retirement. Mrs. Vernon will be remembered for being a great cook and spending time with her family.
