He was the son of George W. Chase and Ellen Burdick Chase.
On August 31, 1896 as Ambrose L. Chase, he married Julia Miller at Trinity Parish Hall in the District of Columbia.
They were the parents of four children.

During the Spanish American War, he served as a Machinist Mate 2 Class on the USS New York. He enlisted for three years on August 28, 1896 and was honorably discharged on August 28, 1899.

Ambrose Lincoln Chase was a veteran of the Spanish-American War. He was an employee for almost 40 years at the Naval Gun Factory before his retirement in the mid-1930s. He had been the chief machinist on the presidential yacht, Mayflower. He was a member of Admiral George Dewey Camp No. 7, United Spanish War Veterans. He died at age 82 on Friday, August 23, 1957 at a local hospital. He was predeceased by his wife, Julia Miller Chase, who died in 1944. Survivors included four children: Mrs. Marguerite Duvall of 9201 Silgo Creek Parkway in Silver Spring, Maryland; E. Raymond Chase [1903-1969] of Carmody Hills, Maryland; George E. Chase of Forestville, Maryland and Louise Chase of the home address, 2320 High Street Southeast; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one brother, Howard M. Chase of 2322 High Street Southeast. Funeral services were held at the Lee Funeral Home at Fourth Street and Massachusetts Avenue Northeast. Interment was at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
