Arthur Walker 1925 - 2017 Former Glasgow, MO resident, Art Walker, passed away at the Living Center in Marshall, MO on October 13, 2017. He was 92. Arthur Walker was born in Edwards, MO on February 1, 1925, the son of Roy and Helen (Brady) Walker. After he graduated from high school, Art enlisted with the United States Navy and was honorably discharged March 14, 1946, serving his country for three years during WWII. Art married Barbara Mae (Short) on January 2, 1947 in Olathe, KS. Together they enjoyed over 45 years of marriage up until Barbara's passing on October 29, 1992. Art owned and operated a dry-cleaning business in Glasgow for a number of years. He also worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier and Postmaster for over 20 years retiring in November of 1977. He is survived by a half-sister, Rita Johnson of Springfield, MO; and good friend and companion, Betty Malan of Marshall. In addition to his wife and parents, Art was preceded in death by son, Richard Walker, and an infant son. A graveside service for Mr. Walker will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, October 16, 2017, at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow, with Rev. Karen Alden officiating. Memorials are suggested to Glasgow United Methodist Church or Marshall United Methodist Church, in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service.
