Roy Harold Aeh Age 85, of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017, at approximately 5:30 a.m. at SOMC Hospice. Roy was born on July 2, 1932, the eldest son of the late Leonard Harold and Garnet Fosnaugh Aeh. He attended Portsmouth High School before entering the USAF on December 29, 1950. He served in Korea as a tail gunner and is a sixty-year member of the James Dickey Post 23, American Legion. Before joining the Air Force, he was a Corporal in the Ohio National Guard. Roy was the former owner/operator of Port Marina Boat Sales on Second Street and also worked in the family grocery, Aeh's Market, also on Second Street. In 1974 he began working as a vocational teacher at SOCF, having earned his teaching certificate from OSU. He retired from SOCF in July 1999. In 1977, Roy was named "Teacher of the Year" by the Ohio Correction's Department.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his first wife, Alberta Francia Aeh and his brother Eugene L. Aeh. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jo Ann Gee Aeh, whom he married on March 16, 1963 at the Sciotoville United Methodist Church. He is also survived by a son, Mark B. Aeh; brother, Gary (Carol) Aeh; and sisters, Wanda Phipps and Judy Reed, all of Portsmouth.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Charles officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11th at the funeral home and one hour before the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SOMC Hospice 2201-25th Street.
