Maggie Joyce Anast
"Mommy's Angel"
June 18, 2017 – October 7, 2017

Our little firecracker, Maggie Joyce Anast, left this world at sunset in the Garden at Primary Children's Hospital, surrounded by loving family and friends, on October 7th, 2017. Wrapped in a white, handmade blanket and dress, she gave and felt the unconditional love of those around her.

Maggie was born a micro-preemie at Utah Valley Hospital, weighing 2 pounds 3 ounces, on June 18, 2017 at 6:03 a.m. This fiery red-head soon showed her doctors that she was not only beautiful, she was a fighter. The nurses and other medical professionals quickly grew fond of Maggie and her devoted mother, Sarah Ann Anast. Maggie was the most calm and happy when her Mommy was holding her, listening to the sound of her voice, and when she would stick her tongue out at her grandfather Chris. Maggie and her Grandfather shared a unique bond. She liked the sound of people's voices and was very ticklish on the bottom of her feet. She did not like having her feet covered, just like her great grandma Joyce.

Maggie is survived by the people who loved her the most, her mother, Sarah Ann Anast; Grandfather Chris Anast; great aunts, Denise (Ray) Wayman and Connie (Lindi) Anast-Inman; Grandmother, Susan (Kevin) Tanner; uncles, Timothy (Randi) Tanner and Travis Tanner; cousins, Sarah Marie (Kris) Franklin, Rowan, Tony and Ozzie Tanner, and Great-Grandmother, Nancy Derbidge. She is preceded in death by her Great-Grandfather, George Arnold Anast; Great Grandmother, Maggie Joyce Beck Anast; and uncle, Corey Linder.

She was particularly adored by the NICU nurses at Utah Valley Hospital, especially Katelyn Bleak, RN, and the nurses at Primary Children's NICU. She had developed a special relationship with her Respiratory Therapist Reggie – the only other person beside her mom and grandpa who could give her peaceful calm in moments of crisis. The family wishes to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff at both hospitals for all of the care, lost sleep and new ideas to keep Maggie with us. We also wish to thank the Ronald McDonald House for being a home away from home during very hard days.

We mourn deeply because we loved deeply. This Little Angel will be in our hearts for always, perfect and strong. We let her go knowing she is free of the limited body she tried to live in for longer than was expected. We love you, Lil' Peanut! You have changed us all. May Her Memory Be Eternal.

Graveside Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Valley View Memorial Park, Veterans Lawn with Private Family Prayer immediately following services. Maggie will be laid to rest next to her great-grandparents. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.valleyviewfuneral.com.
