~Carolyn Elizabeth Barlow Young~
Carolyn Barlow Young passed away at CarePartners Solace wing in Asheville, North Carolina on Friday October 6, 2017. She was surrounded by love and God’s light.
Carolyn, aged 73, was the beloved wife of Peter Francis Young. She now joins him in heaven to continue their eternal love.
Carolyn was born in Wilkes County, NC to the late Sarah Ruth Bentley Barlow and James William Barlow.
She was retired from the University of North Carolina at Asheville where she was loved and respected by her co-workers. She lived in Rockford, Illinois for 22 years before returning to her home state. She attended Ragsdale High School, Jamestown, NC and Guilford College.
She is survived by her loving son and daughter, her son-in-law and two granddaughters. As a mother, she was devoted and loving. She taught her children by example to love and respect others. She is also survived by a sister, two brothers and their wives.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and both maternal and fraternal grandparents as well as two brothers Jimmie Eugene Barlow and Rex William Barlow and two sisters Rachel Claudette and Violet Amelia Barlow.
She will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts and memories forever.
A service was held at 11 am on Monday October 9, 2017 at the Groce Funeral Home Patton Avenue Chapel, with interment directly following at Green Hills Cemetery in Asheville.
