Bessie Kidder was born in 1886 in Sterling, daughter of John H. & Clara Ferguson Ahrens. She married Royce A. Kidder in 1908 and they lived in Sterling for many years where her husband was a lawyer. They later moved to Springfield, IL. Her husband preceded her in death in 1959.

Mrs. Kidder later made her home in Aurora and in 1970 moved to Mexico Missouri where she died Saturday, May 1, 1971. Her funeral was held in Springfield, with burial in Riverside cemetery in Sterling. The Rev. Donald Proctor, pastor of the Rock Falls Congregational Church, officiated at graveside rites.

She is survived by one daughter, one son, and several grandchildren.
