Harlin Eugene "Johnny" Agan

Mr. Harlin Eugene "Johnny" Agan, age 90, of the Wax Community in Aragon, passed away Friday morning, September 22, 2017, in a local hospital.

Mr. Agan was born in Floyd County on March 26, 1927, son of the late Wade and Beulah Chafin Agan. He was also preceded in death by his son, Dennis Charles Agan on May 25, 2014, by 3 sisters, Ethel Brumbelow, Adell Scoggins, and Virginia Ballinger, and by 4 brothers, Willis, Willard, Wallace, and Edwin Agan.

Prior to his retirement, he, with his brother, Edwin, owned and operated Agan Brothers Plumbing Co. for many years. Upon his retirement, he was employed with Citizens First Bank here in Rome for over 15 years. Mr. Agan was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II. He was a long-time member of Flint Hill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and led music for a number of years, as well as serving in other leadership positions. He was a member of the American Legion Post #136 in Lindale.

Survivors include his wife, the former Josephine Roberson, to whom he was married in June, 1947; 2 granddaughters, Haley Bray, Aragon, and Whitney Chandler, and her husband, Kip, Armuchee; 3 great grandchildren, Wade Crider, Colby Chandler, and Hattie Chandler, all of Armuchee; many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017, at 4pm at Flint Hill Baptist Church with his Pastor, the Rev. Don Spears officiating. Interment will follow in Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the
American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard extending military honors. The family will receive friends at Flint Hill Baptist Church on Monday from 2pm until the service hour. At other times, they may be contacted at the residence.

Active and honorary pallbearers are requested to assemble at Flint Hill Baptist Church on Monday at 3:30pm and are as follows: Active: Franklin Roberson, Eric Brumbelow, Phil Brumbelow, Tim Agan, James Davenport, and Chris Goodwin. Honorary: Deacons of Flint Hill Baptist Church.
