BYRD, IOLA ALLEN, 97, died Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Indian Creek Health and Rehab Center in Corydon, IN. Iola was preceded in death by her husband, Cohen, who retired after many years as a school teacher in Crawford and Harrison Counties. She is survived by a son, Bill (Barbara); two grandsons, Brian (Lisa) and Bradley (Nannette); four great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandson. Iola and Cohen traveled around the world and these travels gave her much satisfaction in reflection. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Milltown Order of the Eastern Star, a long time member of the Milltown United Methodist Church and belonged to many other organizations in Crawford County. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the Brown-Newkirk Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 with an Eastern Star Memorial Service at 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Milltown Alumni Scholarship Fund in care of the Community Foundation of Crawford County, 9430 E. State Highway 64, Milltown, IN 47145.
