Age 82 of Elmira, NY, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. He was born in 1934 to the late August and Mary Jeanette (Greenwood) Dombroske of Elmira. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Ruger). He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Jr. and Carol of Endicott, NY and George and Jill of Horseheads, NY; granddaughters, Rebekah Stoddard and Georgette Dombroske; sister, Virginia Casil, of Horseheads; sister-in-law, Marilyn Ruger of Elmira; brother-in-law, William Ruger and sister-in-law, Lucinda Ruger, of North Carolina (formerly Watkins Glen, NY); and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert graduated from Southside High School, Bucknell University, and Elmira College. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He worked for the National Security Agency; Ann Page; Robinson Lumber; Tops Markets; as well as the Horseheads and Elmira school districts. There will be no calling hours. Private interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery following a private committal ceremony and military honors. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the family.
