Colvin McAlister Worth Raleigh Colvin McAlister Worth died Saturday, February 1, 2014. He was born November 15, 1920, in Raleigh, NC, the son of the late Hal Venable and Marguerite Holladay Worth . Also preceding him in death are his wife, Anne Cox Worth ; and his five brothers, Hal V. Worth , Thomas C. Worth , Francis R.W. Worth , William H. Worth , George W. Worth , and sister, Marguerite Worth Penick. Colvin was educated in the Raleigh public schools and graduated from Needham B. Broughton High School in 1937. In 1942 he received his B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University. During WWII he served in the United State Navy in the Pacific. He married and settled in Raleigh, where he worked for the North Carolina Fire Insurance Rating Bureau (now Insurance Services Office) until his retirement in 1983. He was instrumental in starting St. Michael's Episcopal Church in 1950. He is survived by his daughters Anne Sanderlin Worth Page and husband Winston of Raleigh and Marguerite Worth Hardy and husband James of Charlotte; his grandchildren Jeanette Page West and husband Jimmy of New York City and John Colvin Page of Raleigh; his great grandson James Carlyle West, Jr.; his sister-in-law Amanda Parsley Worth of Raleigh; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at St. Michael's Episcopal Church on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 1520 Canterbury Road, Raleigh, NC 27608. Condolences can be made at www.montlawn.com
