J.R. lived a life of loyalty and love. For 50 years, he was the devoted husband and partner of Doris Ann Evans (of blessed memory), with whom he shared a full, active life of family, travel and friends. As a sports enthusiast, he exercised daily, played golf with friends, and cheered his favorite Texas teams. J.R. loved keeping up with family, whether in person, on the phone or online. He was known for his kind and generous heart, sweet smile, and quiet sense of humor.
Among those who survive him are his daughters, Ulonda Rogers, Angela Abbott (William Abbott), and Kim Wadsack (Kirk Wadsack); brother Ray McCraw; sisters Linda Brown (Walter Don Brown) and Rita Mann (Cordell Mann); nine grandchildren: Deborah, Jessica, Christin, Paul (Hilary), Danny, Karis, Dillon, Josiah, and Laura; and two great-grandchildren: Austin and Peyton. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, infant daughter Sherri Lynn McCraw, sisters, Mary Chaffin, Joyce Barnes and Billie Ann McCraw, and his brother Roy McCraw.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at 3 pm at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery’s Wildwood Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas TX, with visitation and viewing at 2 pm. Contributions in J.R.’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army, Kingsland Baptist Church of Katy Disaster Relief Fund, or charity of your choice.
