Flight Lieutenant Eldon Kearl was born in Cardston, Alberta, Canada in 1921 (he was 23 when he died). He died during a night time mission over Berlin on January 27th, 1944.
In 1950, a lake in northern Alberta was renamed from Muskeg Lake to Kearl Lake in honour of F/L Eldon Kearl. Interestingly, Kearl Lake has recently entered the spotlight as the location for a new oilsands development being created by Imperial Oil (the Canadian division of Exxon).
