Betty Lou Walker, 82, of Smock, PA passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at her home. She was born on July 23, 1935 in Naoma, WV a daughter of the late Alba Merile Hendricks (1905-1982) and Nell Grace Dickens-Hendricks (1911-1996).

She grew up in a large, loving family with five sisters and four brothers. Betty was of Baptist faith and a Caregiver by profession.

On October 8, 1959 in Ravencliff, Wyoming County, WV, Betty married the love of her life, Joe "Randall" Walker (1929-Deceased) (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1959, Page 168, Application Date: October 5, 1959). From that day forward, she became a proud Army wife, and their life was blessed with years of adventure. Military life enabled them to travel and experience many places over those years - both here in the states and in Europe, raising three daughters along the way. Yet, the greatest joy in her life was always her family.

She was very proud of her West Virginia roots. One of her best memories as a child was standing on a grassy knoll under the moonlight listening to the sound of an old coal train whistle echoing through the mountains. One of her best memories as an adult was the birth of all her babies, grandchildren included.

She was so extremely proud of her grandsons. All five of her young men. She loved them dearly. Her beautiful smile, advice, stubbornness and loving warm hugs will be greatly missed.

Betty Lou has been reunited with her mom and dad; her husband, Joe "Randall" Walker (1929-Deceased); her two brothers, Eugene N. Hendricks (1931-1993), William Joseph "Joe" Hendricks (Deceased); her sister Dallas Augusta Hendricks-Canterbury-Maynard (1933-2016); and many loved ones, family and friends, before her.

Those left to celebrate her life are her daughters Aleta Walker-Stephen and her husband Robert Stephen of Pittsburgh PA, Anna Walker-Thielen and her husband Mark Thielen of Omaha NE, Amy Walker of Smock PA; sisters, Patricia Hendricks-Rye, Barbara Hendricks-DeVanna, Dora Hendricks-McLaughlin and Darlene Hendricks-Fribbs-Novakowski; brothers, Kenneth Hendricks (B. 1942), Thomas "Tom" Hendricks and his wife Sandy Hendricks; grandchildren, Zachary Joseph Stephen and his wife Lauren Sparks-Stephen, Ryan Allen Stephen, Mark Gerard Thielen, Jacob Walker Thielen, Ian Christian Walker-Cline; her best buddies Crash & Lakota; nieces, nephews and many loving family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday October 7, 2017 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. Friends may gather with the family from noon until service time at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV.
