Thelbert was proud to have served his country in the United States Army Special Forces.
He married the love of his life, Charlene Pauli on September 10, 1955 in Jenks, Oklahoma. They had one son, David whom he loved with all his heart.
Thelbert worked at Hinderliter Heat Treating for over 40 years. He was a member of the Jenks First Assembly of God, the American Horseshoe Federation and an avid fan of the Jenks Trojans. He enjoyed driving and working on old cars, especially his Model A.
Some of Thelbert's hobbies include playing horseshoes, pool, bowling, camping and traveling. He was a mild mannered man with a heart full of compassion for others and was very protective of anyone whom he thought was being bullied.
Thelbert loved his family and was deeply devoted to their needs. When David married Tammy, she became the daughter he and Charlene had always wanted and they loved her as though she were their own. Becoming a grandfather was something Thelbert took to heart. He was an example of integrity and honor to his family and extended family. All those that knew him were blessed to have had the privilege of knowing such a wonderful man.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 62 years, one son and his wife, one sister, two granddaughters as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and longtime friends. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings and one grandson; 130777954 Joshua David Carter.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 14, 2017 in the Leonard & Marker Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Pastor Clayton Cooper. Interment will follow in the Bixby Cemetery.
