Noreen passed away after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was born in Gunnison, CO where she developed her deep, abiding love of the mountains. She grew up in Grand Junction where she met and married Craig L. Boyatt after World War II at Mesa College. Noreen and Craig moved to Fruita, CO where she gave birth to her two children, then on to Lakewood, CO where Craig taught at Lakewood High School and Noreen began and ended her career with the US Geological Survey. After retirement, Noreen and Craig moved to Steamboat Springs, CO then Estes Park, CO.
