A funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel for Paul Wayne Caines, who died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Southwest Washington Medical Center. He was 84.

Mr. Caines was born May 4, 1919, in Pe Ell, Wash., and lived in Vancouver the past 43 years.

He worked for PacifiCorp in Portland for 23 years and retired in 1979 as a hydroelectric operator.

His wife, S. Christine, died in 1997.

Survivors include two daughters, JoAnne Pedersen of Vancouver and Joyce Feris of Yuma, Ariz.; two sons, Stephen of Woodland and Fred of Selma, Calif.; one brother, Carrie Caines of Battle Ground; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Caines was a member of Columbia Christian Church, Mount Hood Masonic Lodge 32 and Order of Eastern Star, Henry Wentworth Chapter 250. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
