It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, Angela Bridget Blakeburn in the An Cala unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012. Born in Trepassey, N.L., to Richard and Bridget (Kennedy) Pennell, she was the eldest of seven children.

She moved to Sydney in 1938 where she met her late husband, Nelson Blakeburn (1998). She resided most of her life in Ashby and on the Meadows Road. Angela was a faithful member of the Anglican church. She was president of the White Cross Volunteers. She loved the beauty of nature, berry picking, card games and Sunday night dinners, but most of all, her family and friends.

Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Friday, Sept. 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, with Rev. Laura McCue officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
