Arthur ”Joe” Leroy Myers, 75, longtime resident of the Bartlesville area, died at 3:12 P.M. on Friday, September 29, 2017 in Bartlesville.

Private Family Services will be held later by the Family.

Mr. Myers was born on May 26, 1942 at Parsons, Kansas, to Roy Arthur and Thelma Inez (McWhirt) Myers. He was raised and educated both in Kansas and Oklahoma, as his family traveled, while his father did road construction work.

He completed his education in Oklahoma and later attended Grayson County College in Denison, Texas where he graduated with an Associate’s Degree in 1998.

He was married to Joyce Dunn on October 15, 1966, at Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

Mr. Myers served his country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Navy.

They made their home in Tulsa, Sperry and Bartlesville, as Mr. Myers was working for the past 41 years as a press operator, draftsman and Supervisor at Scott & Hill Company in Bartlesville for 13 years, Nutter engineering in Tulsa for 11 years, and Black & Decker in Denison, Texas for 16 years; until his retirement in 2005.

Mr. Myers was a Lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, of which he was the commanding officer of the Dewey Chapter of the DAV. He was also active in the Civil Air Patrol, as commander for several years.

His hobbies were fishing, flying airplanes of which he was a student pilot, NASCAR, and enjoyed working crypto quotes. He was also a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society while at Grayson College.

Mr. Myers is survived by his wife Joyce (Dunn) Myers, of the home, and by his five children; Joseph Myers of Stillwater, Johnny Myers and wife Kathleen, of Cove Arkansas, Janetta McCarty and husband Stanley of Bartlesville, OK, Jayson Myers of Bartlesville, and January Rider and husband Gabriel of Dewey, OK.;

by a brother Orgel Myers of Salina, Oklahoma, three sisters, Sheila Myers of Tulsa, OK, Cozette Myers and Ruthie Myers, both of Parsons, Kansas, and by nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Mr. Myers was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother Clarence Myers, and a great granddaughter Gabriella Henry.
