Deacon Samuel Allen was born in Windsor, Hartford County, CT, the first of the children of England-born settlers, Samuel and Ann Allen. His father died 1648 at Windsor, CT, when Samuel was about 14 y.o. and his mother married again, William Hulbird, also a settler. They moved to Northampton, MA in about 1657 when Samuel was 23 years old and there he met and married Hannah Woodford 29 Nov 1659. They had a few children: Hannah, Thankful, Sarah, Joseph, Samuel, Ebenezer, Thomas, and Mindwell.
