Dennis Keith Sailors was born on February 5, 1933, in Falls City. He is the son of Estel and Pearl Sailors. He joined his parents, two brothers, Gene and Larry, and sister, Marna, in Heaven on September 29, 2017. He is survived by one sister Peggy. Dennis was a beloved husband and father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a loyal friend to many and devoted to his family and Christian faith.


He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a brakeman for the Missouri Pacific Railroad and later Union Pacific Railroad. He retired in 1993. He was an avid golfer and life-long spirited fan of the Huskers. He was a loving grandparent to Jesse and Jordan and he was their biggest supporter in all their youth and college sports. He continued to cheer on Jesse's high school basketball teams he coached. His great-granddaughters, Teagan and Brooklyn were the light of his life.


Dennis is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elsie, his daughter, Shelley (Randy) Bouwens and son, Derek, grandsons, Jesse & (Erin) Bouwens, Jordan Bouwens and (Lacy Harwood), great-granddaughters, Teagan and Brooklyn Bouwens, sister Peggy (Marshall) Whittemore, sisters-in-law, Marilyn Sailors, Charlotte Sailors, Gert Lofstrom, brother-in-law, Evert Lundeen, many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Estel and Pearl Sailors, brothers Larry and Gene Sailors, sister, Marna (Ed) Bahr and brothers-in-law, Egnar Lundeen and Mel Lofstrom.


Dennis's kindness and love made this world a better place to live, and he will be sorely missed.


Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday, October 6, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneers Blvd, Lincoln. Interment: Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
