He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing.
He moved between GA and MI with his father for work. He came to MI in 1953 and worked for Whitmore Automotive. He married Flueretta on August 6, 1955, and built their home at Creston.
Their daughter, Cindy, was born September 2, 1958. Around 1970, the family moved to a farm outside of Sunfield. He farmed and worked in auto part sales for Capital Auto. He continued working in areas of auto parts, tire store, and service station as salesman and owner. He and his family moved back to Lansing in 1973 and settled on the west side of town.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Louise Wood and Alfreda Lindsey; and his wife, Flueretta Mae (May 30, 2001).
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Lee Carrasco; granddaughter, Nikki (Stan) Cogswell; 2 great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Cogswell and Hannah Cogswell; older brother, Ralph Brown in FL, younger brother, Frank Brown in GA; sister, Lucille Grandmaison in GA; and his long time good friend and caretaker, Penny Bulock.
Private graveside services followed immediately at Hillside Cemetery with Rev. Scott Kuepfer officiating.
Memorials in his name may be given to Mother Teresa House, Lansing, MI.
