Mary Ellen Brown, of Rolla, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the age of 81.
She was born on November 2, 1934 in Yancy Mills, MO to the late Ralph and Lillie (Huskey) Bell.
On March 5, 1955 she married Alva “Gabe” Brown and they were later blessed with three children. Mr. Brown preceded her in death on June 23, 1997.
Mary was a life long member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church. She was a talented cook and was known especially for her delicious dinner rolls and green beans she enjoyed preparing for church dinners and family gatherings. Most important to Mary was her loving devotion to her family and her faith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Arthur Bell and three sisters, Martha Milem, Amy Cervi and Elsie Goldsmith.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes her children, Robert “Bob” Brown and wife Diane, Warren Brown, and Peggy Brookshire and husband Bruce, all of Rolla; one brother, Irvin Bell and wife Roberta, of Rolla; one sister, Cora Frey and husband Paul, of Rolla; sister-in-law, Luvena Bell, of Rolla; nine grandchildren, Sarah Calhoun and husband Clay, Marcy Ibrahim and husband Dan, Nathan Brown and wife Dawn, Samuel Brown and wife Krista, Melissa Brown, Heather Olds and husband Dave, Ashley Gibbs, Allison Patterson and husband Andy, and Austin Brookshire and wife Jacey; sixteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and dear friends.
A funeral service for Mary Brown will be held at 11 am Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the Null & Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment will follow in the Pilot Knob Cemetery near her home in rural Rolla. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday, August 30th at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to either the Philadelphia Baptist Church or the Pilot Knob Cemetery.
