Wife of Charles A. Page.∼Susanna McMahan was born at Cumberland, Maryland, May 5, 1831, and died at Kahoka, Missouri, April 30, 1920. Had she lived a few more days she would have been 89 years of age.
In 1846, she was married to John Welch and to this union a son and a daughter were born. George Thompson, of Wayland, Missouri, a grandson, being the only living descendant.
In 1852, she was married to Charles A. Page of Franklin, Ohio and to this union five children were born, Mrs. Litha Hume, of Kahoka, being the only one now surviving. Mr. and Mrs. Page moved to Missouri soon after the Civil War, in 1865, and since that time Clark County has been her home. Mr. Page passed away November 9, 1906 at Keokuk, Iowa.
Mrs. Page was a Christian most all of her life. She was born and reared a Catholic, then became a member of the Episcopal Church and still later became a member of the Methodist Protestant Church. Though not being able to attend church in recent years, we are sure that this good woman has kept the faith; she loved the prayer meeting and loved to have it in her home. She loved all things that pertain to religion, her own Bible and the well-known marks that were made in it, She bore her afflictions with the spirit of submission to her Father's will. Though coming to the ripe old age of eighty-nine she lost none of the elements of hope, but ever manifested a certain confidence in her Heavenly Father.
The soul uneasy and confined from home.
Rests and expiates in a life to come.
Thus passes one of the well-known persons of our community, honored, and esteemed by all who knew her.
The funeral service was held Sunday. Services were conducted at the Hume home at 2:30 p.m. by Dr. Kerr, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, and later at the M. P. Church, Luray, where Rev. W. S. Miller assisted. The interment was in the old cemetery.
