South Berwick, ME. Dec 31 - Mrs. Mary C. Davis, aged 100 years, 10 months and 21 days, the oldest resident in this town and one of the oldest in York County, died early today at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Daniel H. Doherty on Highland av. She would have celebrated her 101st birthday on Feb. 9.

Up to within two months when she began to fall, Mrs. Davis spent her time in braiding, sewing and light work about the household and was always active up to that time.

Her hair was scarcely touched with gray.

Mrs. Davis was born in Madburn, N. H., Feb 9, 1815, a daughter of Hurd and Mary (Carveno) Twombly. She has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Daniel H. Doherty in South Berwick for the past eight years.

Her grandfather, John Twombly served in the Revolutionary War, participating in the battles of Ford Washington, Trenton and Princeton.

Mrs. Davis was married in 1837 to Samuel Davis, Jr. of Madbury. She had six children, three of whom are now living: Samuel C. Davis and William L. Davis of Chelsea, Mass, and Mrs. Marianna Cockings of South Berwick. She is also survived by six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Davis was the oldest member of the First Parish Church of Dover, joining in 1850.

The funeral will take place at the home on Highland Ave Sunday afternoon at 130 o'clock. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Dover.
